My question to you guys who have gotten some BBs.....

Do all your specimens have the large red hook anal fin. My understanding is the the anal fin is how to sex them. Large red hooked anal is female, a bi-lobed anal fin is male. Do any of you guys have one with the bi lobed anal fin. If you look closely in the video from my thread I linked there is two with the bi-lobed anal fin.

Me and Charney ordered them together we each got 4, I just asked him the other day to check his, cause mine looked female, and i was not sure at what age they develop the bi lobe.

All mine have just the red hook still and I have had mine for 7 months now. I hope one developes a bi-lobe so I can find out if they are fertile.

Here is a couple videos in my older thread. The last one down in the thread the owner claims they are 10" which means the widebars are even larger that they are with.
The cross I mentioned above is from reading a few asian boards. The true cross is closely kept secret and there is one breeder doing the breeding and strictly controls the release also, from what I am told....Also if you look at the anal fin it does look like that of a red hook.

Thank for the good infos, the anal fin could be of a red hook, but I wonder what give it the high fin and the big black blotch. What would happen if two black berries breed what would you have? There very little info on them

My berries are still to young their 2"-3" only, will have to wait for anal fin to develop to the single hook or the double hook. What doe your have?

Mine are still large red single hook. Thats the issue, I talked to two asian vendors and they dont know if they are even a fertile hybrid yet cause they never kept them long enough. The guy on youtube wont reply to me so I would like to find out myself. So for it appears that all mine are females. But they are still only 4" standard length.

I say their still to young to develop the double hook, I dnt recall ever seeing any 4" red hook silver dollars with the double hook.

Probably, my Tiger SDs had their bi-lobes at 2" but Metynnis are a much smaller species.

Local to me they are £300 each at 2" - pretty damn expensive although i do think these are stunning fish.
