You bought these fish for the wrong reasons. It seems like you are just wanting to see you're fish tear stuff apart. And you are not helping out the fish by feeding them rodents. You should take the advice given from all the experienced people on this site and use it, otherwise why even bother asking for it. And the water quality does look awful. Either take the advice given by experienced keepers on the site, which would make you're fish happier and healthier or don't bother asking for it. Feeding hamsters rabbits and whatever else you are feeding to them is very cruel. Those are meant to be pets not feeders, if you were bent on feeding them something like that you could have got some pinkies like people use to feed to snakes.

agreed mostly, however the part on meant to be pets is one of my pet peeves. you can either feed a cricket or rabbit, its all the same, however they have to have the chance of escape or be done ethically, for example a feeder guppy could hide well in a planted tank and has a small chance, or its done ethically and the animasl dies quick and painlessly.

Been awhile since we've seen pics like this is our piranha section

I suggest you read the piranha nutrition thread (its a sticky in the piranha section)

As far as your original question, the background and light is most likely effecting the color more then the diet

Feed them things that are sold food, not things that are sold as pets.

Why does it matter what theyre sold as? This is an illogical thought process. Either you care that its alive or you dont, what civilization decides to label them as should be a mute point

I feed frozen (note--humanely killed) rats to my snakes, because--here's the thing--that is their only, proper diet.

So really you've got no idea what you're talking about, and this has nothing to do with being a crybaby so much as being against blatant animal cruelty. This is animal mutilation.

As helpful as your opinion is, you're advising the OP to hurt not only the animals he's needlessly feeding to his poorly maintained pets, but also advising him to feed those pets inferior food. And that's only if you want to look at it from a purely logical standpoint about the proper care of the animals in question.

To conclude:

You're wrong in your assumptions about the reasons people are reacting to this disgusting thread how they are, and;

You're completely wrong and backwards in the advice you're giving to the poster even from a purely nutritional standpoint.

While I can't speak for anybody else, it seems to me that the goals of this forum are to help people keep fish successfully and propagate valuable information about said fish, both of which you've failed to do stunningly.
Totally agree, with the info. that's been put forth educating the OP as to the deficits of feeding such a diet and sbgbuddy adamant request for more pics it makes you wonder what he's doing while looking at the OP's original pics as it's obviously giving him a thrill of some kind.

OP mammal meat(red meat) isn't like fish meat even chicken(the "other white meat") isn't like fish meat. Even people have a harder time digesting and processing red meat than the others can you imagine the stress on the digestive system of fish that rarely encounters red meat? Now I myself had an Armatus and used to feed him the occasional frozen rat pup(usually twice a month) but it was more because I was lazy and I knew feeding him the pup he'd be full longer and I wouldn't have to feed him again right away. When I fed him fish filet's and shrimp stuffed with hikari his stomach would shrink by the end of the day and I felt forced to feed him twice a day so out of laziness I switched to occasional feedings of rat pups filled with hikari to buy me a couple of days. Still ultimately I know it was detrimental and wouldn't suggest following in my footsteps. I just used the example so you could see how hard it is for a fish to digest mammal meat as it took him days to digest it versus the hours it took for fish meat. You can clearly tell by those difference in times to digest just how hard it was on my Armatus digestive system to digest the mammal meat. So for the sake of your fish and the other animals your feeding to them please stop the practice.

Couldn't have said better myself, so I'll just say "Nuff said".

Thanks for the comments, so are you saying ill change light shade or light color? Also, i change water every week about 40-50%. And their only 8-9 months old, so should they be losing color that fast? thanks! View attachment 956291

They just finished eating this hamster i uploaded
Noooooooooo! That is the most savage thing I have seen this month and I just cut the tip of my left thumb off.

My apologies to everyone, but as i just said earlier, id stop feeding them rodents watsoever. and ive been feeding them goldfish. and thats a gold fish also their in the tank as their food. so according to what i gathered, i better change the light color and diet. but id also like to know, if it is necessary to place a heater? since im already in a tropical country and its already not that cold here. thanks everyone!

Actually what you need to do is stop taking care of the fish, piranhas are "ILLEGAL" to the Philippines... I know our country has a lousy law practice but that doesn't mean we need to bypass the law just to have our satisfaction going... Sorry bro.

If we do want to make our country a better place, even just a tiny bit little, we need to start off with ourselves. I don't mean to be self righteous or what not over you, it's just that MFK is always monitored by people who can address your hobby to the local authorities and it might be a big jailbait for you.

I recommend you to shift another stocks...
