250 gallon 2.0

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
is your 250 really 60" long length?? my 300 isn't really 72" long.. techniquely it's only 71" but if you measure the plastic frame it's 72.25" long.. second i guess you have not spoken to marineland tech..my 300 deep dimension have a flow rate no more than 700gph rate each overflow box.. at time i was supprised myself.. and now here your using a 3000gph @ 4' height i feel i need to upgrade my pump now... do you have any problem with that flow rate?? i'm only pushing 1700gph @5'...

Its 60&1/4 at the plastic frame, one of the reasons I get more than 700gph is because I knocked out all over flow tabs as well and use all four bulkheads for drains and it probably closer to 2000gph, because its 5 feet up to my tank with 2 45º's and a 90º, I actually wish I would have went with a bigger pump as well

The tank was originally designed by marineland to have 2 1" drains 1 in each overflow and 2 1" returns. 1 in each overflow. There are 2 tabs you can knock out in the overflow to plumb your returns. I knocked them out to increase flow.

So each sock gets 2 1" drains.

Now that there are no bulkheads for returns I used 1 1/2" pvc with 2 45ºs to run my 3/4 loc line returns up the back of the tank.

Finally got the remaining media in today since it was on backorder. Seachem says the 20liters will treat 2000 gallons we'll see. It looks awfully small in my sump

Basically just built a giant wall of media

pretty nice.. well i have 24 liters of the matrix in my sump now but still have a little ammonia problem.. here is my sump page.. don't want to take yours out...

i have each 1" drain into 7x16" long 100 or 200 micro sock... goes thru series of baffles before back to tank... i'll update on the sump with medias and running pics soon... thanks for the advise of knocking the other tabs out.. made a little difference on the draining of the water.. i think in order for me to upgrade to a higher gph pump i need to set it up what you have done to you setup..

Nice very clean and neat!! do you find the loco lines work very well? I have been considering getting some but the price is quite scary, what size do you use also?

Thanks I put a lot of effort into it. I like the loc line a lot. Right now I'm running 4 3/4" nozzles with plenty of pressure to the point where I wonder if its restricting it. When I was running 2 fx5s I used 4 1/2" nozzles and had to run a 2000gph circulation pump to help keep debris off the bottom of tank. They are quality parts.
