Well worth the money? fly river turtle

My FRT has been sleep at the bottom of the tank for the entire day. he is buried in the sand motionless. usually he's playful when the lights are out. His eyes are closed. First time i've seem him like this during the day and at late night. Is he just taking a break after days of just swimming around?

Has it moved at all? Has it been to the surface?

i've seen it swim up and down maybe once or twice today. I was to busy upstair so i didn't onserve all the movements. But everytime I go downstairs, I see the turtle lying at a different position everytime which is a good sign. I guess he is just tired from all the swimming. He was swimming nonstop for almost a week straight. hopefully he is just tired.

I see him sleeping with his eyes shut almost everytime today.

Alright you had me nervous with thinking he hadn't moved all day lol. If you see him in a different spot but buried that is a good sign. Mine did that at first. Now it has a daily routine.

Could you share your FRT's daily routine? That would help a ton!

Mornings and nights there is a lot of activity from it. Afternoons it is less active. This doesn't change that much for this one. Couldn't tell you about other FRT out there. Maybe Oddball could share some of his first hand knowledge from when they are little.

bro, do you know long long it takes for the turtle to regrow the sloughed skin that it shed? My FRT just shed some of his shell and head skin. Just wondering how long the new skin can grow back. The part where the skin peeled is still whitish. Looks like white dots like I said earlier.

If he's sleeping it means he's finally comfortable in his new environment. Don't mess with his sleep. Young FRTs float to the surface every couple of hours for a breath before settling back down for more sleep. As they grow, they'll take longer naps between breaths. My FRT is large enough that we can hear him periodically take a breath from the other side of the house, every few hours, after he starts napping in the late morning. Mine no longer buries himself. He lies in his large open sided flower pot and just rests his flippers on the substrate. He'll rouse himself from his sleep if I approach the tank because he's expecting a treat (of which I'll give him).
When he's active, if he sees us giving the cats treats, he'll start splashing at the surface to get our attention so we don't forget him during treat time.

What the active/rest ratio for these turtles? mine seems to be inactive even during the night. He was extremely active for the first week i got him. Now he is very lazy and laid back.

I'm assuming is is already used to the new environment?
