No it's not but I do not live by a lake stocked with them the closest body of water is the Rancocas creek and catching one from there would be a challenge

that's sucks I have know experience with pickerel but with a pond that size you could probly add the pickerels first then the pike later when you aqquire one

That's really bad idea! Pike will eat all of the pickerel.
 
100% agree with the pickerel over pike stocking. And pickerel are just as aggressive feeders as pike, but you won't have to worry about losing a ton of smaller fish to them as they are so much smaller. Less worries with putting 3-4" fingerling bass or other species in. You get a pike in there and it will eat just about anything new you try to introduce that isn't large.

I fish a shallow fish pond in Harriman, NY, packed with pickerel and a few bass. They're a great species and super active in spring. They're a great addition to any pond large enough to hold them.
