Kidding, I think there are a few things at play.

Posts that give the impression that the poster is lacking experience or knowledge get a great deal of response. Posts that give the impression the poster is competent get less response because it appears there's not a lot for others to contribute.

Posts asking questions often get more responses than posts that don't.

Posts that imply more to come in the near future often get more response than posts that don't.

Posts relating to a subject that's trendy get more response than less trendy subjects.

Folks don't see "great pics" as enough of a contribution to warrant a post.

And I'd guess there are other factors as well.

Nice pic!

Great looking cat! How long is it?

Is it a plywood tank? If so what did you do for a sealent?

What else is in that tank?

See that people? 7 posts for one single pic just from 1 member. lol

I've noticed a trend where it seems as though the better someone is at photography the less attention their fish pic threads get. At least that's been my perception and I'll fully admit I just came back from a short hiatus and perhaps my perception is skewed. Though I will also say I've seen a talented photographer here recently asking for their attachments and pics to be taken down due to feeling the same way(which by the way is petty but I understand their frustration). I've also seen a decrease in pic posts by some of our most notable photographers Aquamojo, greenterra, jcardona1 and xander who despite having amazing picture will barely get any replies when they do post.

Now this following statement is conjecture on my part based on the decline in their posts and the lack of responses to their posts as none of them(xander, Aquamojo, jcardona1, greenterra) have said anything and I'm unaware of their feelings in regards to this subject. I'm just assuming based on what I perceive that perhaps them posting less is in relation to the less interaction they're getting from the community. Now I'm assuming that based on my own state of mind which they might not share and I will admit I myself can be petty at times. It's personally hard for me to understand wanting to be part of a community if there's little to no interaction and despite their skill, effort and all they contribute to the site they go by largely ignored or at very least are appreciated but have no way of knowing based on the responses to their threads.

Which leads me to me question, why do so little members respond to higher quality pic threads?

I myself am not as talented as them but still I take a decent pics and get asked quite often how do I do it via pm, yet my threads will go by with relatively few responses. Now I know this thread may wind up being a total flop and get no responses still out of curiosity I had to ask. To me high quality pics enrich the hobby by making id's easier and generally giving people a real interpretation of what potential a fish may have. So why do they seem to get no responses while fuzzy cell phone pics can have responses for days?

because this is first & foremost, a fish keeping forum. Subforum subjects about other skills are of most interest to photo hobbyists.
Fish keepers are primarily here to expand their knowledge in this subject. Crappy cell pics are usually posted with a discussion theme and learning questions, not for the pictures' sake.
I think fishkeepers appreciate good photos (IF they see them) whether saying so or not, but their focus is on the fish related purpose of images.
Photographers who want an interactive photo-based section need to create discussions there. The forum isn't an art show.
It is petulant for a photog to get their attachments removed. It's very annoying to discover a thread and begin reading with interest, only to find the relevant pics deleted.

Aquamojo had great responses about his cichlid-related photo illustrations, so IMO you are quite mistaken about that.
I assume he is just quite busy.

Yeah I wasn't aware that some posters had done that but it makes no sense to do so.Thats about as bad as someone openly complaining that no one replies to his or her thread and asks for it to be deleted, kind of childish....I enjoyed Mo's "Today in the Fishroom" offerings even though I'm not into the types of fish that he keeps and like Spoiler said, hopefully he's just been busy.

I clean out my photobucket account from time to time. ( I am a cheap bastered and aint buyen more space), this deletes my pics from any posts with them.

That's quite different from what was mentioned earlier. Can't you upload photos to the site without using that service?

you tube account I suppose but i do not use it. photo bucket is just to dang easy to use.

i may be mistaken but the site itself does not have upload space that i know of accept for your avatar.

I'm not the most tech savy member but I upload photos right from my computer files.
