Rare bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
r2o aquarium its right near the intersection of dundas and Dixie (GTA) the Mississauga big als always just orders the exact same fish species over and over again.

Honestly I highly doubt those bichirs were from lake turkana. People in Asia almost never get them let alone Canadians. Bichirs are fairly widespread in some regions of africa so i'm sure there are other specific lakes out there that have bichirs.

The reason why lake turkana bichirs pretty much never gets imported is because the regions around the lake area is extremely dangerous. It's risky business to travel there just to get a handful of bichirs.

I would really love to see a pic of the beutts of lake turkana, that PBB is amazing!! Thats one of my dream trips really, a collecting trip to turkana. You guys hear the civil war in the DNRC ended and its peaceful again? Should expect some nice imports from there soon

same here I doubt it but it is possible

Alright thanks for clearing it up. What other fish live in lake Turkana?
Plenty more but most are Nile perch and tilapias. Only sene and pbb are the two bichir that are found in Lake Turkana. You'll be surprise that the lake is actually a salt lake than a freshwater lake.

Wow did not know that

If I'm not mistaken frontosa too?

Another really rare one that just came to mind is the EndlixOrnate hybrid. I've only seen a few pics of confirmed endlixornate and they're gorgeous. If the CB program is focused on quality, not quantity, the certain good quality hybrids are pretty rare.

so salt water is what makes monster bichirs! back in the earlier days in the site, I think i've heard that bichirs can also be kept in brackish waters.
