So I was playing with the ESPN playoff machine. This is what I got:
Edit: Ok uhhh, the link is not working for some reason. But here's what I got:
NFC :
1. Seahawks 14-2
2. Panthers 12-4
3. Green Bay 10-6
4. Giants 9-7
5. Saints 11-5
6. Detroit 10-6
AFC:
1. Denver 13-3
2. Cincinnati 11-5
3. Indy 11-5
4. Patriots 10-6
5.Kansas City 12-4
6. Cleveland 9-7
Some notes:
Originally in the NFC, I had Chicago at 10-6 and the 3 seed, and San Fransisco at 10-6 and in the 6 seed. However, I went over Chicago's games again, and decided that they would lose at the Vikings in week 13. This gave Green Bay the division and for some reason Detroit the wildcard.
In the AFC, I don't think Kansas City is as strong as their record indicates, and thus predict they will lose 3 games, including one to the Raiders. The race for the 6th seed is kind of pathetic, with it coming down to Miami, Cleveland, Buffalo, and the Jets. Both the Browns and Bills have really easy schedules down the stretch, and I predict them to both finish the season strong. The Bills are in too big a hole to climb out of, but the Browns beat out the Dolphins (8-8) for the last wild card slot.
And now the NFC East. I'm trying not to be a homer, but the Giants have played their best football over the last 4 weeks and they're schedule isn't too difficult outside of 2 games (at Detroit, vs Seattle). They should be able to beat the reeling Cowboys and Chargers, and the bad Redskins. I believe they can win 1 of the 2 tough games (my money is against Seattle) and the rest will play out on its own.
