Go on ebay and see the money some of the rare cards are bringing. Remember the GPK cheap toys? A full set in can bring a couple hundred bucks.

Cheap Toys series 2 is harder to get. One figure goes for several hundred. To be honest though, there are only a few holy grail items worth buying. That is why I have original art, cause it is truly one of a kind.

They ripped him off.

Thats quite true, for stuff like this you need to find the right sales channel...

Same reason i wouldnt take a pair of my customized sneakers to a random auctioneer hoping the bidders know about the people who worked on the shoes...

Yeah but the statement was that there are only a few cards worth anything. Their BS expert convinced the seller of that so they could low ball him. Had he been smarter he'd have realized he got burned.

The expert said his cards were worth $450-500 retail and the guy sold them for $150. According to Wayne's Garbage Pail Kids References, the expert over-valued them.

That site is outdated. Take a look on ebay. Just a series one set sells for between $400-$600. I've had tons of the cards/sets/merchandise in my possession and have sold many. Plus I keep up to date with it all even though I don't collect anymore. That "expert" they brought on the show doesn't know his crap. I am willing to bet he never even owned or sold the cards himself. Plus you gotta remember all those pawn shop TV shows are mostly fake. I actually known Wayne as well where you got that info. Email him and ask for an updated value. He doesn't even have the newer stuff they have released in the last few years archived on his site.

All this talk of GPK made me go look for what i had left and this is what i found...

The one with the GPK in the meat grinder was the first ever card i got from a pack back in the 80's

The current value is meaningless. What matters is value at the time of sale which was obviously earlier than the air date. The expert's valuation at the time the show aired was high according to Wayne. Complete series 1 set currently at $250.88 with 12 hours left on eBay

http://www.wgpkr.com/GPK/Media/PawnStarsS05E38-GPKSegment/ Article about the Pawn Stars episode " The $450-$500 estimate he gave for the set/group-of-cards was way too high. He also did not examine the cards close enough in order to properly estimate their value"
