^ not sure about legalities of your fish, but just coz you bought it at an LFS doesnt mean it may not be illegal to own...

A lot of stores across the globe have been known to stock and sell fish they shouldnt for legal reasons.. But that doesnt stop them unfortunately...

+1 my Lfs constantly has gar and they are illegal in Ct. Sometimes they get them from fellow hobbyist who bring them to the store instead of releasing them into the wild.

Could be Talapia I agree it is diffacult at that age. People are to quick to play the hybrid card when they don't know what somthing is. Just grow it out a wile and we'll see in a month or so.

The problem with your statement is that the hybrid card tends to be very valid when dealing with tilapia. Most of the ones the end up randomly at fish stores are refugees from aquaculture operations and those tilapia have extremely muddled genetics. They are mutts of mossambicus, honoroum, aureus, and nile if not more.
