98-02 honda transmissions are well known for their problems with many websites and forum threads devoted to the issues. Do some googling. Just because a transmission is the same model doesn't mean it's as reliable as any other year for a wide variety of reasons.

Look into renting, should only cost you $500-$600 to rent for a month. Plus don't have to worry about all the issues that would come along with buying a used car.




Really? had not heard that. I have 274,000 on my 1998 still has original clutch.

Automatics. Especially the V6 sixth gen accord (ask me how I know).

I think he referring to newer model auto transmission...they have had problems as well as the Honda oddessy minivans.
 
I think the problem is that most rental companies won't rent to 19 year-olds, or if they do they charge a steep premium.
