You forgot Benny Goodman ... his version of Sing Sing Sing is one of the most iconic songs of all time. Hmmmm. In fact, I think I have the Swing Kids soundtrack in the pc atm ... be back later!!

Not Trolling, I dont know very many details about R&B but i have a few close friends who are into it, i dont remember the last time i heard ushers music or even someone bring him up. R Kelly has turned himself into somewhat of a joke as well. I mean who goes to those concerts? mainly girls ages 13-30? Doesnt make much of an Icon to me, just a fleeting sensation (im not denying his talent). As far as dancing goes look up some reggaeton shows in CA and SA if you wanna see better dancing

Maybe im just putting the word Icon to high in my mind. People like i said before, George Clinton and Parliment Funkadelic, Bruce Springstein, Henry Rollins are all icons in my mind. Like i said, IF usher can keep it up another decade or 2 he will be granted that status

you mustve just skimmed the thread since you somehow brought up names mention. The census is that the award is being given out for dominating a small era (not even a decade in rihanna's case). The names brought up were talking about whos more deserving, not whos the greats amongs greats (true icons) but modern icons for dominating a short era

Ps, why look up dancers? Im talking package....and yes, some of us used usher to get in girls pants the same way people once used barry white and the temptations.

Justin has sold about 67 million records over his 20 year career though.....

He's outsold Whitney and Madonna in a day and age when nobody buys CDs anymore.

And downloads aren't recognized by the RIAA as album sales. They are considered "licenses" and don't qualify, but if you count those as well, he's sold well more than half what the Beatles have sold altogether

Not too bad for a 32 year old boy band graduate. Maybe not Icon worthy today, but way moreso than Rihanna

To Ballin, Usher.... is Usher. He's just another R&B guy who doesn't do anything unique. New Kids on the Block are icons in R&B

True for worldwide. I was just looking at his us numbers but yeah she's around 200-250 million all in I believe maybe more. She's also 55 and he's 32 and just hitting his stride as a solo artist
