Can anyone ID this guy for me??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will post a couple more pics in a sec... I'm located in Niagara Falls, New York. I'm thinking Channel too, but the fork in the in the tail was throwing me off... Also, it does not have any spotting at all. I tried counting the rays, but no way... I'll just need to try another time as he is only 2-3" and they are hard to see!!!

This is what i think of for baby channels the size of your fish.

Thanks... I'm going to grow this guy out a while and see what it look like. I'll post pics after a while... the fork in those latest pics are pretty deep and mine is very much not like that... I'm sure its just a channel cat, but either way I will update after a while, thank you!!

Im no longer sure if its a channel or not. Like you said best to grow it out some more. :-) to me in the last pics you posted of it swimming it looks very bullhead-like. If thats true it could only be a white cat with a forked tail like that. Time will tell. They change a lot as they grow. The confusion is the lack of pictures of different types at smaller sizes. Please update us monthly if youd like. Id love to follow this fish.
