Can anyone ID this guy for me??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've kept white cats in the past, bullheads and channel cats too. As others have pointed out, channel cats have black spots, bullheads don't have forked tails, it looks to me to be a white catfish, a female white catfish as it's head closely resembles that of a channel cat which is typical, as opposed to a male white cat that has a head much larger than the female, resembling that of a bullhead species, even with small specimens. Very obvious if you were to view a pair from above. The coloration seems right for white catfish as well...

Thanks n I'd be happy w a female white catfish!!!

Pet plus out in lockport, but I did buy the granulosus from the fish place. Great place!!

My personal top three in Western NY: The Fish Place, Pets Plus, and Markheim's Pets.

Looks like Yellowcat knows his white cats too :) Great info. I place high value in Yellowcat's opinion.

Those are my top three as well. Niagara Aquarium is ok too... there is Tropical and Blackwinds here in Niagara Falls as well. Pet Plus and The Fish Place are the best tho as far as carrying some of the more rare fish.

... Last year I sold him my 27-28" Granulosus catfish, which he still has!...

Wow. That's a big granny. I think I've only came across one bigger one - Arapaimag's was 33" 11 y/o a few years back. I apologize for the diversion. Do you have a thread with pics? If no, your granny would warrant it.

I have a few older pics... I had one I took last week when I was at Pet Plus with my 7 yr old son holding his arm in front of the tank, but I accidentally erased it when I was trying to down load it!! I need to head back out there soon and I take another pic... he has only grown maybe an inch or two in the past year since I sold him.
