i got a 2$ pleco from the lfs ! ID ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great looking fish and would love to have him for two bucks. Doesn't seem like there is alot out there and would lean towards a common low value fish. That being said i would take him in a heart beat.

yup gold spotted sailfin, great plecos, tough buggers when pissed off, I have 3 of them, yours has some great color on him should look really good when it get's larger in size.

thanks ! what is the minimum tank size for them? i dont think tht it would fit my tank when he hits tht 20" size. lol

there are lots of them back at the lfs where i bought him, and i think tht they used them just to feed on the algae in the display tanks. soo, more like a cleaning machine in the lfs. pity though.

I doubt it will reach 20". Unlike the common sailfins, these stay on the smaller side. Largest one reported was 16 inches. Planetcatfish only lists them at 12"(SL)

i hope soo. btw, i always wanted to keep one of those borneo suckers. they look cool, but i rarely seen them being sold here. have u ever seen one before?

I used to see them all the time..not so much anymore. They need fast moving cool water. I wouldn't put them in a tank over 75 degrees

Wow, thats the first picture of a young one I've ever seen. Always see them as adults.

I had one that was pretty cool, until I found out it terrorized the rest of my fish at night. After that it was gone.

loads of them in our lfs and most of them are juveniles, and all at the same price. planning to add more species of them in my tanks.
