Some folks mix giant with true gourami. We have true gouramis here for pretty cheap, I think one in Dayton for around $20 or so.

That's debatable. I had one and she was gentle, never bothered soul, including me. I remember removing flukes from her, never jumped. Ate out of my hands and didn't bother a fish.
