Getting rid of kick offs will also eliminate a way to have the trailing team comeback via the onside kick.

Then move the line back. The reason theyre considering taking out the PAT is because its boring and too automatic (even though 5 were missed/blocked). What's more boring then kick offs going into the back of the end zone? Thats the result more then 95% of the time

The NFL deliberately moved kick offs forward to hit the end zones for safety reasons, at least that's what I remember reading two season's ago. They use to be on the 30, I think, then the NFL decided to move them closer to eliminate some of the hard hits on the "defenseless" return man.

The intent was to make it safer by creating more touch backs. Itd be one thing if the return man was returning them from a few feet from the end zone if he chooses to, instead theyre flying out of the endzone or catching them deep in the endzone. As pointless a play as the PAT in my opinion.

That's how I remember it as well.

Safety concers is exactly why they did it, that and to protect their investments. I still don't like it. They also discuessed moving it back to the 25 I'd rather see that IMO. I like kick returns I hate thouch backs.

What's the point of even having a kick off if they are trying to get touchbacks? Just have them start on the 20. I knew they were thinking about finding a way around it but I didn't know they actually moved it, however I did noticed it in game that most were going past the endzone.

Hahahaha! Statistically speaking almost 50% of those scrambles resulted in atleast one player getting injured. What a great way to start the game...
