Sorry, hes very camera shy..
Sorry, my camera sucks..
Sorry, there's a glare..lol

But I'm giving an update.

I've had this Sanchezi for about 3 years now. I got him when he was 2-3 inches, he's now roughly 4.5-5 inches. He's in a 55 gallon, all to himself obviously.

He gets fed pellets as a staple. Shrimp once a week, and tilapia once a week.

I am very pleased with his growth, and color. The pics don't give it justice. Very feisty!

The only real plants I have in there are the anubias. It was kind of an experiment I did earlier in the year, but I dont think I'm quit ready/fit to start live plants yet. Although I would love to get into it down the road.

Btw, I hope these pics work and I'm not just posting a blank page..

Sanchezi looks great:). I noticed you have potted plants on top of tank, ever thought about rooting pothos in your aquarium would reduce nitrate levels.

I would love to do that...SOMEday..

I just don't have the knowledge yet or the funds to do so. Like I said, I would love to get into the real aquascaping down the road when things are a bit more "stable". Great suggestion!

I test my water a day after every 50% water change which is once a week, and the parameters are 99% perfect.

But yeah, I would like to try anything to reduce the nitrate levels down the road from now.

What brand of pellet are you using? The color is great! I'm trying to get my Mac on pellets but he isn't that interested and it's been a week of me trying.

That's a lot of empty space - I would add more wood and plants to make him feel a lot more comfortable. No wonder he's so shy.

Thank you, yeah my camera kind of hides his true color.

I use Hikari Cichlid Gold, but every fish owner uses something different. The reason why I've stuck with Hikari is because I own cichlids, and feed them Cichlid Golds as well. Kill 2 birds with one stone...

Other MFKers on here helped me with pellet training. It took him about 3-4 weeks of not eating before he went for the pellets. I know it was a long time, but it definitely payed off. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your piranha go for pellets after 4 weeks of training lol.

I just took 3/4 of the plants out because of tank maintenance, so yes it looks empty right now. Not to worry though, they're going back in as soon as that is taken car of. Thanks for the input though.
