Aggressive solo pirhana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
for a 125 g tank, i think you need a bigger solo fish than elongatus
but since you like the black mask elongatus, you should go for it.

it is also a very aggressive fish,
but they grow not so big, 8-10 inches.

Thanks I didn't know that yet for lack of a better word don't want the p police back what's their attitude like

not sure. i have no experience with them. i think i read somewhere that they are fragile when young (don't quote me on that), and you don't usually see them around very often or at least i haven't. they grow to around 14" in captivity. bigger in the wild obviously. i would get one just cause you don't normally see them.
look at this one.

i have a serrasalmus maculatus and it's pretty aggressive/active, could just be my fish though. i bought it cause at the LFS it was the only one that checked me out when i bent over to look at it. Downside of aggression is the chimple they develop on the lower jaw, which is a callous formed when rubbing against the glass while trying to get at you.

if possible choosing your fish in person would give you a better idea. worked for me.

A friend of mine had a manueli...VERY AGGRESSIVE. Finger chase all day long.. couldn't have any tank mates no matter how big or small.. "fish are friends-not food" didn't apply to him hahah.

he would even nip at his owner...forcing him to block him off in a corner when it was time to gravel vac.

I know they can be aggressive and they're "pretty" aswell...I'm waiting for aquascape to get more in stock so i can grab one.

For sure.....but *cough* you shouldn't get one....because.....the next one aquascape gets is MINE! hahaha just kidding... i might splurge and get that $750.00 monster black piranha theyre pushing.

Good luck finding one as piranha aren't aggressive!I know as I have owned at least 6 different species and over 20 in total and I was let down with everyone or group.
