Yes I use them as well. And if used with a sand substrate like pfs there is practically zero substrate cleaning! Plus its like a treadmill for your fish, just make sure there's a spot or two in the tank where the fish can rest, driftwood helps.

This is the most efficient way I've found to create a good current that maximizes mechanical filtration while maintaining linear flow. Like this pic I drew (need a stylus)

I've used this configuration on a 90gal with an fx5 and it wasn't to much flow, now its utilized on my 125gal.
