I have a HUGE piece of driftwood but not really any other hiding spots. I will just take out my Raphael's cave from my 30 when I move him (nobody else goes in it). I will get more decor on Monday when I make my monthly trip to my LFS. The temperature in my 30 is 79 F and the 75 gallon is 75-76 F.
I know, I just mean there is a cave there if he wants to hide. My heater doesn't have a guard on it though. And my raphael hid next to the one in the 30 for the first month (luckily on the plastic part so he wasn't burned).
I am pretty sure they will be fine since adding such small fish to a large tank shouldn't make much ofa difference but after recalling my memory, I thought raphael catfish weren't supposed to go into a newly cycled tank? He should be fine since my ammonia is zero which would be the part that bugs him but I just want to make sure. Not sure if you ever had Raphael's before but if you have what is your say on putting them in a newly cycled tank.
As was said the browning water is from the driftwood. I had a piece in my 50 that released tannins for years. The fish love it and it is good for them, actually looks kinda cool and natural.
