Are your Fish Afraid of the Dark???

Huh. Just weird I guess.

I really think for my fish anyway it's like a window in your house.

When the lights are on inside you can't see the burglar outside in your car.

When they are off you can see out.


Note. I now just leave the lights on all the time and they are doing spectacular.

I don't think he was specifically afraid of the dark. If he truly was he'd freak out every night because it gets dark. Its probably the act of turning off the lights that freaks him out

I don't really think any fish is afraid of the dark. Misleading thread title I guess.

If I turn off the tank lights now after having them on nonstop for a couple weeks. They FREAK out.

Yes very misleading. I've seen fish flip out when you turn the lights out or on quickly.

My aro flips out when spooked during lights out, the others could care less. When lights are back on, Aro's back to his kingly ways :)

Thanks for your input. I just meant I don't think they fear darkness itself.

I would be interested in hearing about fish that spook when lights go out, and fish that are shy and hide or inactive in darkness. Thanks for your time. Bye

I use a small night light for my fish because some times they get spooked when I turn the lights of or go into the room to get something after the lights are out. arows are very likely to get spooked especially the silver ones,I had a huge one jump out of my tank twice the second time he did not make it. You can go to the 99 cent store and pick up one
