Flowerhorn gone DARK?

Not sure if they all change ,but I will say it was crazy to watch it change.. he is a mean bastard also .I have to be careful if my hand goes in the water as he has drawn some serious blood lol. i should post a video of him not letting go of my arm when he bit me

+1 Post picks of that interaction. FH have the best personalities and some of the most aggressive too. In response to the topic of the thread, I believe the darker colored gravel has caused his change to the darker color. FYI be careful with sand because it can cause major problems on filters especially with cichlids that like to dig. FH love to dig and alter the tank as they see fit. If the sand gets sucked into the filters you will have some many problem you'll have to deal with. I use a light colored river stone in my tanks and my FH looks amazing.

Post pics of your Gravel? Yeah I was a little worried about sand because I used dual AC filters
 
UPDATE: I fixed the background onto the back so the tank was a little brighter, the FH seems a bit lighter but still very dark from when I first got him. I think im going to change to some lighter colored river rock gravel later tonight, as he still has the black gravel. Heres an updated pic, keep in mind this is with my brightest LED light setting on (no I dont keep it on all day):

Changing the gravel will do the trick, but give it 2 or 3 days to get back to it's original colour :)
