Hate to be a bubble buster on the plants but my severums eat plants

Reptileguy. I am still interested in angelfish and rams. I was considering getting an angel soon. I looked at some rams an I didn't know that one would cost almost $10

I was a little frustrated at first but I kept working at it and now there is peace in my 110 with 4 normal aggressive species.. its about finding balance and knowing ur fish.

Although I do appreciate larger cichlids, I dont think i'll ever keep types such as Jags, Dovii, Red Devil etc, the largest I'd like to go is JD, and thats from the point of view that they can *sometimes* be ok in communities, along with single convicts.

I also keep fish as a stress reliever.

So it is official. I am done with cichlids. (except for severums and my breeding pair of jack dempseys). In one day I have turned my aggressive 125 to a peaceful community. I took my vieja, hybrid flowerhorn and my 2 salvinis and traded them into my LFS for store credit. I must admit it is more relaxing now that I have a bunch of little peaceful fish swimming everywhere enjoying life. Lol. I am also excited because I have room for plenty additions. I just got to a point where I was tired of having only a couple of fish in a huge tank or having to rehome some due to aggression. Is there anyone else out here that ever suddenly switched over like this? If so what was your reason for doing so?

Yes I went thru this, I had Jags and Texas as my bigger ones. Convicts, firemouths and acaras as my smaller ones but got tired of it and wanted fish that got along with each other. Been cichlid free for about 15 years now. I still admire them...just won't own any.

Yeah idk If all do but my red severum nips my plants apart, but they do last for a while before it looks too awful.
I have also had bad experience keeping a jd in a community. It was beating up my lima, datnoid and clown knife.
