Anyone else view thier fish keeping as therapy?

There is nothing better than coming home, opening a beer and sitting on the couch in front of my tank watching the fish swim around. Except when I come home to a dead fish.

not me. I don't even want to watch/do the tank stuff if I'm in a bad mood. it's just irritating.
my therapy moments are dog hugs.

I can honestly say this hobby has helped me overcome some other unhealthy addictions that I've been blessed to put behind me.

Cool.

Peaceful community tanks definitely are very relaxing, yes. Aggressive tanks, not so much, at least for me. I have a minimum daily allowance now of at least 2-3 hours of zoning in front of the tank.

I think personally I'd get out of the game then!

I'm with you.

No need to disclose my illness, as it's not life threatening, thankfully, but I suffer nonetheless. I view my fish keeping as a kind of therapy as when I am taking care of my fish, or talking about fish (like on this site) all my problems seem to melt away.

Anyone else view thier fish keeping this way.

But don't get me wrong it's fun too. :)
yep..... best medicine in the world.....:)

Aggressive tanks stress me out as well, but sitting her looking at my peaceful community really puts my mind at ease. I just love watching them in their own little watery world. It is just amazing

why would I want to quit a hobby I've been enjoying for almost four decades? just because I enjoy it when I'm in a good mood instead of a bad mood?
you don't have things you enjoy doing more when your suffering less? why haven't you quit those?
