Can prazi pro help a new ray to eat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Although I know hunger strikes can be common with new rays.

Prazi doesn't have a positive effect on appetite. The increase in feeding response is related to a healthier ray eating more after taking care of parasite problem. Prazi can actually stress a ray out and slow down eating during treatment.

As stated, wait it out. That's a fairly new ray. It will take time.

I'd like to challenge that a little, 2 leo rays, 2 retics, 3 peackock bass, and a black arowana in my tank did not all have parasites, and they definitely all experienced a boost in appetite (except the black aro). I do however agree that prazi, if not properly administered anyway, can stress a ray out for sure.

Ohhh snap...you're challenging ZOO!? Jjk :-)

I had a ray go over 30 days without eating. It was very stressful time but one day out of the blue it started eating. I offered foods everyday and it showed no interest at all. I surely thought it was going to die. It lost weight but never got what I would call skinny.

Thanks you for your experience fishdog, I'll keep being patient

My question would be if you had no parasites, why did you treat for them?

Ghost shrimp…NO, chopped nightcrawlers/eathworms…No, Live blackworms….YES

Blackworms for the win. i dropped some on her head and she couldn't resist and started eating and moving immediately. Feels so good to watch her feed she's hasn't moved in 2 days!

Thanks everyone. I know I was a little overly paranoid and concerned but she's to die for. a true beauty. I'm happy she's feeding now!

Didn't eat again tonight, but did earlier today. I think this is a good sign.
