240 Gallon to 300 Gallon - Upgrade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes I am, resealing the entire thing. I'm not taking the panes apart, just removing all the silicone. I got one side done, 100%, not just need to work on cleaning up the rest. I'm not rushing this, doing a little bit at a time, going over and over and over with a razor to make sure there is absolutely no residue leftover. If this doesn't work, I will just sell it as is, I'm not messing with replacing the bottom pieces, I don't have the help around when I need them, but I'm always around when someone needs help, funny how that works..... I'll be back at it tomorrow

I wish you the best of luck. The silicone seals between the panes of glass do 90% of holding in the water. Without disassembling and redoing those seals first it's a crap shoot if it will hold water again. Hopefully it works for you.

Best of luck to you sir! I gave up on mine, picked up another 265 today. Let me know if you want to do that for the 75 and 30. I really don't need them.

Hmmm...I was told the other way around, the sealant or whatever it is holds the glass in place and the silicone keeps it from leaking.

I've seen old glass tanks with no silicone seals at all inside just between the panes. Think of it this way the silicone between the panes holds them together with the inside seal as added security. If the outside seal is compromised (leaking in a spot) the inside seal has to do all the work in that spot. water pressure will pull or push the inside seal until it it gives and leaks again. Maybe it will work if you put a huge silicone seal inside idk. Just hope to save you any further headaches, I've had 30 gallons on the carpet from a leaking 300, not fun..

Looks like today, I came across a very good deal from a VERY good friend. I got my 500 back, also in the deal I got my old 265 back and a 210 along with a ton of other equipment. So for now, I'm going to try and fix the 300, if it works or not, I'm selling it to make room for the 500. Will either dump the 75 and 40 and use a 210 for my clown loach tank and community fish or sell it, will most likely sell my 220 and replace it with the 265. I just about sold all of his fish, have a few bass and gar left. Next to sell is his equipment. After I pay him what we agreed in, the rest is mine. So I will be listing items for sale on here and CL. Soon as the fish are gone I will clean up the tanks, get all his equipment together and decide what to keep and sell. Can't wait to get the 500 running again :)

Nice man let me know if ur selling one of the 200s

I will be for sure. I think I will actually keep my 220 and make it a loach tank (MAYBE), sell the 210 setup with stand, filter, light, heater, lids, etc. and keep the rest. I just need to make sure I can make enough $$$ of the rest of the equipment so that I don't have to spend any money out of pocket :) He has 2 RODI systems, 3 rubbermaid 150 gallon tubs, EHEIM filters, FX5 which I will keep and sell my two cheapo canister filters, $2000 worth of Marineland LED's, 1000 watt titanium heaters, PH Monitors, wireless temperature monitors, sumps, pumps, food, media, etc. :)
