1,000 fish killed at walmart

How about 4000 hrs. of community service for the $4000 dollars of fish they killed, plus any fines, court costs and the actual $4000 of property they destroyed. I know 4000 hrs. seems like a lot, but it is punitive and meant to be severe and send a stern message. They can work at an animal shelter cleaning dog poop. After 2000 hrs. of doing nothing but that, they can start to slowly move up to more responsible positions within the shelter learning more about animal husbandry and how to properly care for these pets, i.e. dogs, cats. fish, reptiles, etc. Hopefully, this will instill within them a greater sense of value for all life...human or not. Cause these dopes, either through educational enlightenment or through the fear of jail time, need a deterrent from committing a crime like this again. A nice long 5-10 year probation thrown in on top of that community service where any infraction would get their deferred adjudication revoked and land them in jail for 12-24 months for (animal cruelty, destruction of property, vandalism, all of the above) would work nicely as well. At least that is what I would offer them if I was the DA handling the case (when they get caught).

yea, this is more reasonable

I just can't get on the bus with the just-lynch-em crowd

a couple of jerks.
but, I can't rationalize them getting heavier punishment than is being handed out for child abuse that has often gone on over an extended period of time.

no argument on that end from me ..BUT...
given the chance they may work their way up ....if you check out the bio's from some of the worst criminals of all time, they started out as animal abusers

Cant get on the just-lynch-'em crowd for people who see poisoning living things as an appropriate action?

It's not that they destroyed a monetary value number of merchandise in a store. They inflicted suffering and death upon animals because they thought it was funny.

...and it's not very different than going into a zoo and killing the elephants.

yep, it was just fish

don't assume I condone the actions or even defend these scumbags but they were just fish. again, it's not like they were intelligent or rare creatures.

yes, it's different. it's very different. if these two losers went into a kennel and poisoned all the dogs there, i'd say a few years in jail isn't too harsh.

but killing walmart fish isn't the same to me

It sounds like you are placing the lives of one group of animals over another...and because they are from Walmart?..I understand that you don't condone what they have done.I wouldn't be opposed to them sitting in jail for at least a year, heck,a shoplifter can look forward to that much time in this city if he can't make bail lol.

And all exterminator's and crop dusters need jail time too. Oh there I go again......
MOST of us will stomp a cockroach without much angst, and then call the pro's in to chemically wipe out 1000's that are hidden away. So, yeah, there is a hierarchy of life. But, admittedly, if Wal Mart sold pet roaches, it would be wrong to do what these guys did to those fish.

The damages here, I believe exceed the amount for it to be a felony. Wonder if it would count in this case.

I'm not getting the whole roach analogy but I have absolutely no problem killing one lmao!

me neither. By the way guys, roaches are not personable, intelligent animals like fish are.
in my opinion, the more personable fishes (amphs, oscars, sunfish, gar) lives' are just as valuable as a cat's or a dog's
