1,000 fish killed at walmart

I am not a big fan of Walmart in general but I work second shift and it is the only place open at 1:AM. And not every one lives in an area with 4 pet stores with in easy driving distance.

that's a good point ..Walmart ,like em or not provide a certain segment of our population with usable, affordable goods ,and a fair return policy...imo kinda important in this economy.. and yep I understand about the workers lack of bennies and pay ... that's more of a national policy problem that our"leaders" need to fix

True, and another reason I think why a lot of walmart, petco, petsmart, LFS, etc. employees aren't giving the right info is that they are working a part time job. And if you had this enormous knowledge on fish and had the option to work either at an LFS for MW or work at a public aquarium for lets say $30,000 which one would you choose? You just need to go into these places knowing exactly what you want or are prepared to get and don't listen to what they tell you unless they are very smart.

Id think so, but I say a few years in jail as well. As unfair as it is, walmart probably has some of the best lawyers and might get them pretty good.
Oh yeah,I'm all for some good jail time for the culprits...My previous post was pretty much in response to Bottomfeeder who mentioned something to the effect that if caught they may not face very stiff punishment.Hit them with every possible penalty.

I've seen similar posts about Walmart before and I don't get where the bashing is coming from...I am a fairly recent shopper at Walmart and the prices for the merchandise sold there does not seem to be any lower than Kmart or Target or any other one stop type of store. They don't seem to cater to a particular economic segment of society any more or less than they do to the general public.

I'm fine with jail time, also depends on their history. but few years??

if they have clean records, I think fines, pay for losses, probation, and a couple months of community service would suffice

I was thinking a few months with community service attached, these guys need an attitude adjustment before they develop a taste for human suffering..I will bet most real a-holes get started this way

How about 4000 hrs. of community service for the $4000 dollars of fish they killed, plus any fines, court costs and the actual $4000 of property they destroyed. I know 4000 hrs. seems like a lot, but it is punitive and meant to be severe and send a stern message. They can work at an animal shelter cleaning dog poop. After 2000 hrs. of doing nothing but that, they can start to slowly move up to more responsible positions within the shelter learning more about animal husbandry and how to properly care for these pets, i.e. dogs, cats. fish, reptiles, etc. Hopefully, this will instill within them a greater sense of value for all life...human or not. Cause these dopes, either through educational enlightenment or through the fear of jail time, need a deterrent from committing a crime like this again. A nice long 5-10 year probation thrown in on top of that community service where any infraction would get their deferred adjudication revoked and land them in jail for 12-24 months for (animal cruelty, destruction of property, vandalism, all of the above) would work nicely as well. At least that is what I would offer them if I was the DA handling the case (when they get caught).

killing fish to that extent like that for no good reason is cruel and can't go unpunished

but it's not like they went into a zoo and poisoned all the elephants
