Hello; where did you get this about golden retrievers? This does not match the information on other sites.

http://dogbitelaw.com/dog-bite-statistics/the-breeds-most-likely-to-kill.html

http://www.livescience.com/27145-are-pit-bulls-dangerous.html

In these two links I do not find that they are mentioned.

HI the national bite registry for all animals wild and domestic. My wife is a vet and she has access to all dog bites and deaths since she has report any bites to the county and state.. there are all kinds of sites that state they have bite records and deaths but like anything they are not exactly true.. don't get me wrong i am not defending what this dog did ,and I also think the owners should be held accountable as well..

I wonder if it was even the dogs family who pushed this case. Is the family's intention to keep the dog?
NO, the family surrendered the dog to county for euthanasia.
This is not the first time: the Lexus Project, an animal rights group based in New York interfered and brought a legal case against a county to get a vicious dog lifelong care instead of euthanasia.
They got a dog off, after it killed a kid in Nevada.
GUESS HOW? The counties can not afford to spend the $$ to fight the cases.

I read defanged, I dont think defanging the dog makes it significantly less dangerous

Hello; I agree. This may also set a precedent for future maulings. The dog defenders may well try to intercede in all future mauling cases. I can even picture the call for public funds to be used to house the vicious dogs. I could almost see some benefit if the groups that championed the dog had either agreed to or been ordered to pay for the childs care. As it is the dog appears to be headed to some sort of housing after after having some paid for surgery. I think A lawyer defending the dog set up a fund to pay for the dogs defense.

I read that the mother had to leave her job to care for the boy and so far it appears she has around six grand in his fund. I wonder who got to tell the child that the dog that disfigured him is going to still be out there somewhere?

I for one find no joy in this outcome. While it was stated that the folks defending the dog do not put a dog ahead of a person, I find that very self serving and have my doubts.

I suppose congrats are in order to the dog defenders on this forum. At least you got the outcome you wanted.

The dog's owners distanced themselves from their pet pretty quickly after this happened (the boy being attacked under their watch). Disowning their pet so quickly seems like their way of saying "Oh Sh*t, were we supposed to be watching that kid...Damn, let's throw the dog under the bus before we get in trouble". So getting to my point - The judge ordered the dog's sentence/punishment, but when are we going to hear about charges being pressed against the babysitter, her boyfriend, the owners???? What's their punishment? Clearly they didn't give a sh*t over what happened to their pet or that poor kid. Maybe that judge should make the owners pay for all that kid's surgery, the dog's defanging and neutering and while she is at it - make sure that the owner can never be an owner again. The owner of that pit should be deemed a poor caretaker and banned from ever owning another dog...ever.

agree 100 %

Hello; I am thinking that I will not ever have another dog. This is too messed up!
Yea, too hard to control. I banned them in my house over 20 years ago.

The other thing I find funny is this stupid fight to save this dog's life yet thousands of dogs are put down EVERYDAY in shelters just because they are there.

What a wasted effort on this one animal.
