New Bichir (poly) but already hurt :(

Well week three nothing yet. Treated with metro. The bichir still refuses to come down from atop the heater or even hunt for food. Only other thing I can thing of is maybe out him in the fry tank and see if he eats the fry but not sure if I entirely want to give up the fry

is he eating? As long as he is at least getting something he should be be good until he is ready to come down and compete for it

It's thawing out enough that you might be able to find worms now. They're another food my bichirs love.

I'm not sure if he is I have not seen him eat a single thing. He wont even eat If the foods touching his mouth.

Maybe but the ground is not really thawing out so well here. Cities not really expecting it to thaw completely till like June. Lots of bursted pipes and extreme colds. There is still some snow on the ground in places!

If you can try and find some freeze dried shrimp or krill that is small enough to fit in his mouth. Drop it beside where he is and if he doesn't then he will eat eventually.

Okay I'll keep on trying krill! It didn't fit his fancy before instead just lied on it like a pillow. And how can I get him down from the heater. The main problem is that he doesn't come down near the food so others eat it. Everyone else is getting fat while he's being anorexic

I wouldn't worry about him hanging around top smaller polys tend to do that when they are young.

You could always try moving the heater.
I know what you're going through with winter. I still have lots if snow In my yard. My raised garden bed is thawed though.
