I always assumed bronn and robert baratheon (if i was looking at this part of the book only) were the man followed by the hound and the mountain. I didnt put much stock into the tourney fighters. I elevated jamie as i assumed hes got a lil bronn in him. Dirty fighters over display fighting anyday

I might have his title wrong but my point was he was only in any kind of high position because of his father.That's how it appears to me anyhow.I was kind of expecting to see him and Ned go at it at some point....and for him to be dispatched by Ned.
 
I still think he'd be better if his head were in the game ... but trust me, at high level sword fighting (not me, I was a noob), they won't waste time working on the off hand. You could take an Olympic fencer and flip hands and have a college kid beat them. If it is hard for someone that is ambidexterious, it would be brutal on someone that's been one hand dominant their whole life. Knights are more like Olympic fencers than they are regular soldiers. Specialists. They are the dovii keeper than can't keep guppies alive.

I always figured Ned was the better fighter, which is why Jaime was so keen to fight him. I think Jaime knew he was the paper champion as it were, taking out Ned in a fair fight would have put him over the top.
 
on another board i visit they even have a thread with a poll about who's the best fighter in westeros

i'm gonna go check it out to see who's winning the poll. those people over there get really into it and know about all the characters.

i tend to stay away because you can accidently see spoilers
 
so in conclusion i was way overrating Jaime. that's a little bummer since he's one of my fav characters right now

i thought he'd be able to beat guys like the mountain and old man selmy


about kal drogo,..........such a waste of character. i don't know if he was more badass than they had intended but he had such potential with what they could do with his character
 
just checked the poll i was talking about

winning is Daemon Blackfyre with the mountain in second

what do you guys think? is that pretty accurate? I've not put that much thought into the mountain because they haven't shown much of him at all let alone in any fights

the show is not that far yet so i can't wait to see this daemon guy

king and queen at kings landing with freakin dragons??? man, would be awesome. they'd have westeros on their knees. either willingly or by force and use white walkers as servants and juggling fools

Who could blame anyone who did overrate Jaime,especially with a name like Kingslayer.You almost can't help but expect for him to be an asskicker lol...Kal Drogo,complete waste of an awesome character.
