Shark tank on Nat Geo last night

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Many of the marine fish we keep are very territorial and don't need more space or use more space than we can offer in a display. No animals in this particular display will ever need more space than what they have to live out a full, healthy life.

As for SW vs FW needing or having more space, I think that might be a bit of a stretch. It is very species related as to the amount of space an animal will need or use. Not what type of water they are found in.

I don't understand why no bonnet head pups? If they get too big, take them out, but Wouldn't that be perfect for a couple years? and what about BTR sharks?

Cuz their snouts are extremely sensitive and prone to crashing into things in that size tank. They're better suited for large open water aquariums with no decor plus they get big. BTR's also get too big for the tank and the guy specifically said that he wanted them in there for life.

I've never heard of Fish Tank King's before but I absolutely love how the fish and sharks will be able to live a full, healthy life in this tank! I've never understood the concept of buying fish that you know you can not house for life just to trade them later on. I too find it sad that most sw fish are taken from the wild only to end up on display for our amusement. For educational reasons I agree with. That's why I don't go salt myself but each their own. As long as they are being regulated and not being depleted in their native habitats that is.
Amazing tank and amazing setup!

Yeah, bonnets take a LOT of work to transition into a display - let alone a display with rock/coral like this that they can run into.

Thanks! We're trying to get more and more 'real' info about the process of these mega builds out there this season. All of the fish collected are done with proper gov't permitting and from sustainable populations of fish. Also, only fish that can be permanently housed are collected.

Here's the preview for tonight's show. Nobody minds us catching these guys. :)
I haven't seen the full show yet. Should be interesting.

Hey Matt, i just finished watching a rerun of Ftk. "The little mermaids" the one where they cut the viewing window into the bamboo egg. do you know if there is an Eppie in that tank? i could of sworn i saw that characteristic white bordered black spot at the end.
