They would love that large of a tank but dont need it. Most average about 12"-14" with a few exceptional ones that get bigger. I think you could do one in a 125g just fine. Mine is in a 210g and happy.

My favorite was a male Trimac I had many years ago.
Now: Synspillum on the CA side and H. Temporalis on the SA end.
Syns are just hard to beat for pure coloration.
The Chocolate is such a cgameleon; constantly changing his color pattern. Great temperment for a community set up. Does not mess with anyone but can definitely defend itself when challenged.

I have to say, choosing favorites is rather difficult!
It has to be my old trimac! He was the most precious bulldog-looking fish ever. Beloved fish. Never caused trouble, in fact he removed all trouble. He was housed with a red devil that was always looking to start something. Of course the trimac kept him in line, as well as a umbee and a festae. The trimac NEVER ate feeders(convict fry).

Butti and green terror. The personality of the butti is great and the look and attitude of gt are fun
My favourite is probably a midas(midevils). But I may also have to choose a dovii. There is just something about them, but the only thing keeping them from being number one is there size. You have to dedicate such a large tank to them, and you can't put anything else in with them
