Hidden Volcanoes Melt Antarctic Glaciers from Below

It's not worth it Matt.

It might be interesting to know what sort of educational background those in this thread have and compare the educations of those who don't believe in climate change with those who do.
What does my education have to do with this? Those 97% that you put so much faith in admitted... I'll say it again, admitted to deceiving the public and stated that volcanoe(s) are what is melting the ice.

I'm sure you will find people with all sorts of educational backgrounds. Again, it probably wouldn't bode well for those holding diplomas from the University of Tree Hugging...

LoL, I think modest_man wanted to brag about his 8th grade science project (He melted an ice cube - Now that is what I call vision!)...Always fishing for compliments that one.

There is no debate on the reality of human induced climate change. The scientific evidence is over whelming. The only debate is what impact climate change can induce (it's not all gloomy and there are winners and losers), and is it worth it to spend a lot of money to reduce CO2 or spend elsewhere to mitigate the impacts. The 97% consensus among climate scientists was achieved only recently. There were a lot of skeptics at the beginning, less than 50% decades ago, but increasing each year with accumulation of more research data.

The debate is similar to evolution. The evidence of evolution is overwhelming but there are still many deniers based on religious ground.

Again its 97% of the scientists that responded to the survey, of which less than half actually did.

The evidence is not "overwhelming". Look over the long term earth temps. Earth heating and cooling is a natural thing. We dont match mother natures co2 excreations nor is co2 some uber green house grass. Its actually a poor one.

Overwhelming evidence? Yet it is perfectly acceptable for these same people to change their minds and come up with new guesswork...and us 'mindless' sheep have to accept whatever they say, but we can't disagree? Just like how many times has the evolution guesswork changed? I disagreed with the one in 2000. I was told I was clueless yet it got changed the next year...but I had no right to doubt it because I disagreed with the general path...right.....

Evolution is, of course, also a grand conspiracy. All just lies made up by scientists so that they can be funded to do research.

This is a great read on the science of climate change: http://billmoyers.com/2014/06/12/si...-to-know-about-the-science-of-global-warming/

The 97% consensus came from serious climate scientists from IPCC, not self claimed scientists. The IPCC conducted periodic polling from its members since its formation. The consensus evolved slowly from low percentage to very high percentage over years of research.

The natural heating and cooling cycles argument is an old argument that has been examined to death by IPCC research scientists. Although natural fluctuation of temperature is true, it cannot explain the recent spike in CO2 and temperature rise since industrial revolution. Argument taken out of context of the full picture can be misleading. For climate change believers, they should read "Hocky Stick & Climate Wars by Michael E. Mann" that examined every skeptical argument on climate change. For climate change skeptics, they should read "Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist Guide to Global Warming by Bjorn Lomborg" that challenged the climate change believers. Climate change, like evolution, is a complex subject that lay people can easily be manipulated by headline news.

Evolution is another subject denied by religious conservatives only in US, not in western Europe, Japan or any industrialized nations. The amount of evidence on evolution accumulated since Darwin time is overwhelming from many disciplines: fossil records, genetics, comparative anatomy, embryology, DNA, anthropology, geology . . .etc. To day, you can throw away all fossil records and rely on DNA data alone to support the reality of evolution. Climate change reality is moving in the same direction with evidence mounting from many disciplines: tree rings, ice cores, ocean sediments, geology, climatology ... etc

But for deniers with an agenda, they can always cast doubts to mislead the public. Aren't there people who still believe that Obama wasn't born in USA?

Food for thought. Rather than reducing your emissions. Stop eating dairy, beef, and wearing leather.

Cows pollute more than all human emissions in the transportation sector combined as far as greenhouse gases are concerned.
