There is no debate on the reality of human induced climate change. The scientific evidence is over whelming. The only debate is what impact climate change can induce (it's not all gloomy and there are winners and losers), and is it worth it to spend a lot of money to reduce CO2 or spend elsewhere to mitigate the impacts. The 97% consensus among climate scientists was achieved only recently. There were a lot of skeptics at the beginning, less than 50% decades ago, but increasing each year with accumulation of more research data.
The debate is similar to evolution. The evidence of evolution is overwhelming but there are still many deniers based on religious ground.
