Setting up a 340gal ray tank - need help stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As you are ordering the glass and building it yourself why does it have to be 24" tall why not 27" then it will fit in

Your tank your sizes no need to stick with standard sizes

When I had a acrylic tank which they wouldn't build on site my doors where 30" wide so I made the tank 29" tall

You can gain another 2-4" by removing the door frame or even just the door trim this isn't a big job that you will have no problem handling if you can build a tank

If you can do glass great. But still acrylic is so so much better. Glass is stupid heavy. I would never build a glass tank. Even moving a 200 gallon glass tank is insane. With my 600 acrylic my one friend pickup up half by himself and moved it around no problem. And the clarity of acrylic is amazing as well.

I got people to help, acrylic is too expensive.

Doesn't acrylic scratch more easily?
How much more expensive is the acrylic compared to glass? (%)

It's your tank so any size can be made

Also the door maybe 30" wide but if your remove the door frame of just the door trim you can make the door another 2-4" wider and it's very easy to do

As for glass vs acrylic I have had both and do think glass is better
Everyone uses the acrylic is lighter and clearer but you can get opti white glass now which is clear as acrylic and yes it's more expensive but you only need to install opti white on the front panel the rest can be standard
As for acrylic being lighter unless you wank to carry the tank around like a backpack every day the lightness doesn't matter
