i find buying slightly damaged tank and repairing or replacing panels is a cheap way of doing it. loads of people throw out a tank with a crack pannel, bit of fishing line and a good clean and some sealant (fish safe) and you got a good tank for not much, i take anything offered for free and tinker, if i dont wont it ill clean, repair and resale to cover cost on mine.

also ill take any free acrylic and stuff to make small tanks or repairs.

What do you use the fishing line for? On the crack?

Buying food and chemicals in bulk saves you a lot of $$$ down the road.

Fishing line is used to cut the old glass out, its easyer than using a sharp blade

I switched from liquid Prime (which is expensive and smells bad) to powdered Chloram-X in bulk (from Kensfish.com). In addition to not having the sulfur smell, it works like a charm and a little goes a long way.

You can also mix your own Melafix and Pimafix.
