Short body Green texas update, the second generation.

The third gen is right around the corner, perhaps in 2-3 months? Some may be a bit surprised when they see the fish I've chosen to hold back as breeders.

So this is weird...some of the fry were born very short and have grown a bit longer/larger...some of the fry started out looking rather overlong in looks, almost not looking like the parent's. The ones that started out long haven't grown very much in length at all. Lately all of them are starting to look pretty much the same length. There is some variation in length yes, but not as wildly different as I'd thought.




p.s. I already see some prespawning behavior.
 
And it's only a fry, wait till it's like 3"-4" and showing breeding dress. Thought you might love them, most folks do.

Well, it's been a long time since I posted this thread, a lot has happened since then. For various reasons this strain was lost to me for about two years. Thanks to my friend Daniel/kalideoscope I have a male & female of the second generation back...there was a third generation but I didn't keep any of that stock.

These guys were supposed to be crossed to syn & then back to sbgt, that was the original plan. The male of the pair was not interested in my female syn. However the female was interested in my male syn, it was love at first sight...


A female from them will hopefully be crossed to the male sbgt. They might come in handy for another project I'm doing too.
 
Hm, Now that I reread this thread from the beginning, maybe this is the third generation that I have & not the second? Pretty sure that's right.
