Short body Green texas update, the second generation.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
have they gotten any bigger?
Growin like weeds, the grandmother and her siblings didn't show nearly this sort of growth rate. Guestimating the largest to be 1 1/2", the smallest is still in the 1/2" to 3/4" range.
So how many did you keep to continue growing out?

Twenty or thirty I think, possibly more..they will be pared down to three or four in the end. I do "elimination rounds" fairly often, I basically know whos going to win already but I like to pad the odds by choosing several to start with. Its nice to see I have so many excellent choices, this spawn seems to have a lot of potential altogether, there's sooooo many really nice ones, I had to restrain myself..or I would have kept them all; p

good job, im so impressed with the first batch the pearling is outstanding...when i get back to canada i will start up again, i just wish I could get some from you, but looks like I will have to go the thailand route...hope all is well

cheers

Hi Blue, Long time no text!

The second gen shows every indication of being just as nice as their parents. And yeah if I were you I'd try to find an import to start with, so easy to find a carpintis to cross with. If I could ship to Canada I'd send you some freebie's, but meh the difficulties of international trade get in the way.

Yanno you could start with kk or bp parrot and keep crossing back to carpintis. You should see definite positive results by the second gen.

there are some nice fish that come up regularly on aquabid from thailand, I really like the round bodies and uniform spots on your first gen, it just happens to be exactly what i like :P .. but I think something will come up, as well as some SB reds which i know you are not going for. Yes i know the trade thing is so annoying, may be a way around it though? :P ...cheers

also wanted to know, from the first batch of normal bodied escondido father to sb female , what percentage came out short body?

Fully 50%, I had a ton that looked just like her, the rest of the 50% sb varied in shape/length but were visibly sb. That sort of describes this gen, tons that look exactly like g'ma, the rest vary quite a bit but all are visibly sb.
