Poly's are my new favorite fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah so I'd just keep everyone really well fed so there is minimal cannibalism.

They difference is rather minimal, and they all are well feed, I'm curious to compare them to the ansorgii, it should arrive on Friday. It is the same size they were when introduced to the tank.

Never seen them show interest in each other, but I'll keep observing them.

Yes it definitely helps to keep everyone with a full tummy and congrats on the ansorgii.

So jealous your ornate is still so dark with light substrate. Mine was super dark with bright spots changed to sandy light colored sub and he washed out. :'(

Some pics I took tonight, my new bichir is arriving tomorrow morning!

Just look at the endlicheri! It's a real beauty, by far my favorite.
But he's only out one or two hours before I turn the lights off.

Will experiment with some new food tomorrow as well, hoping they'll start eating pellets soon.
Beef heart is to messy, same with blood worms.

Its funny back when u first posted your set up with a different stock I thought to myself some polys would look sick in there! I recommend an african leaf fish if you dont have one. They come from the same area and are just as bad ass.

I'll look into it. I can't get hold of it, only the South American kind at the moment.

Try rolling the pellets in crushed garlic. Garlic acts as an attractant and appetite stimulator for many predators, polys included. Once they recognize the pellets as food you can back off the garlic. The trick is getting them to recognize the pellets as food.

very nice looking tank. I have never owned Poly's but from being on the site a while I notice people get really hooked on them. Like potato chips nobody can own just one. Never owning one I don't know why and I don't have room in my tank to find out for myself what makes them so great. So what is it that makes Poly's "your new favorite fish" They do look cool especially the ornate ones but what is it about them that makes them so addicting?
