Project 365 is a go!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wednesday has an awesome thread about weld on 40 that Phixer and didysis contributed a lot to. It really helped me when reinforcing my 450.

Good project, it's nice to see you back in the hobby Rob :)

As for bulkheads and stuff, I'll leave the field to more competent people, but for stock I'd suggest a bunch of cyprinids + the blue. Should look really cool with the furcatus as a centerpiece.

I buffed moooooooooost of the scratches out of my craigslist-acquired 240 with a Meguiars dual-action polisher. Much easier than doing it by hand, but certainly not the same results one would get with a true wet-sanding. I actually used a few car polishes before I bought the 3 stage kit everyone here recommends. By the time the acryilic showed up, the car polish had done most of the work. I've seen people use buffers attached to hand drills as well, but I bought the buffer so I might as well use it as often as I can.

Not sure how OCD you're feeling, but if I would do the test fill; note the worst areas, and then just pay special attention to those when buffing.

In regards to welding acrylic, I know everyone says its easy, but I've never done it. I did run a line of acrylic weld around the inside of all my seams for added peace of mind.

Good luck buddy. When it's up and running, I would offer to send Baki over for you to baby-sit...... and pellet train..... but I've learned never to trust a catfish

I am pretty ocd about things like this. My goal is to get this as perfect as possible, but there are some deep scratches that I suspect that I might be forced to live with.

I would give up any dreams of a big cat if it meant another ATF, but I live in Florida now so that isn't an option lol. I'd already have a pack in my 56 column growing out if I could have them!

Sweet! I'll check it out. Do you recall in which section this thread is located?

Thanks, it feels good to be back! :D. Nine months without a tank was WAY too long!

I like your idea. Cyprinids grow quick and many are easy and cheap enough to replace when the cat eats them. I might also have a Florida brown and a spotted bullhead in there, too.

Also, Tors would be a perfect match in terms of size and water needs and would allow me to keep my goal of not running a heater. Hmmmm...

Here's another pic with Mini Me in the tank for size reference. He's 19 months but big for his age, 33" tall and 30 pounds. I never thought I could love something in a fish tank so much!

It's massive lol. Can I ask how much it costed you for a tank that size?

I'm not sure if it's right for me to say. Phil gave me a SERIOUS hookup on this and it wouldn't be good form for me to say the price.

Suffice to say though, it was an incredible deal..

I love the dimensions. Best of luck on this new tank. Atf illegal to keep in Florida?

Oh no worries man I am just interested in upgrading my 125 gallon within the next year and am starting to price tanks out. I want over 300 gallon but not sure if plywood build is the way to go or glass or acrylic

It's called weld on #40 and #42. By Wednesday13.

I can't post the thread link because I'm on my phone. But helped me with reinforcing the seams on my big acrylic.
