I believe you had good intentions but just came at him the wrong way!!! You don't tell a man his tank is junk and should be used for a snake or lizard cage because it needs a little work!!!
I understand both sides of this and agree with both of you but you went about it the wrong way...All you had to do was tell him what I wanted to as soon as I seen the tank.. " DO NOT PUT WATER IN THAT TANK UNTIL IT IS FIXED!!! "
But I do agree with you the way that top came off if the seals are that weak up there they will be that weak in other places as well and should not be filled up water like that!!!! (As was proven when the top came off the side can off too)......
As for Wednesday13 you should look up some of his Threads before you try to put him down because he has Threads proving what he says, He does and builds things most of us only wish we could!!!! The guy has over 5,000 gallons of water in his basement now and is working on another 3,000 gal. build now!!!
To the OP don't let this bother you, That tank is well worth fixing and if you do it the way Wednesday does you know it will last you another 20 years!!!! Keep us updated on it I can't wait to see it all done and full of water again!!!
