I do not always run it, but I do add chemi pure if there is a smell... I feed a lot of massivore which as you probably know has a distinct odor and running carbon help to absorb that smell.

Yeah, I've got big cats and soon to have pbass so I already feed a crap load of protein. I'll try the carbon! thanks!

Carbon may take care of smell, but I'm sure OP wants to get to the root of the problem......not just "mask" it

OP does not seem to have a problem as his water is testing fine... and the smell may not actually be a problem more then just an odor from the food s he uses etc.. which running carbon will rectify.

Water is testing fine for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, but it doesn't mean there are other underlying issue(s). And since he didn't disclosed the food source, we can't deduce that this is the issue.

Carbon zeolite mixtures help.

My water tests perfect. my tank is over filtered and has water changes every 4days without fail. I do all this to make sire everything stays in check and for maximum growth. 10,000 litre an hour pump on a sump as well as a ln fx6 with an 800lph internal filter.

Ammonia is Zero
Nitrite is zero
Nitrate is > 10ppm
Phosphate is testing low
PH is 6.8-6.9.

Any other tests you'd need?

Actually......no one has asked this nor have you disclosed: Is this strong smell something new, or has it always been this way? How long has the tank been running?
