Dat in distress please help!

Get some Coppersafe and treat with that. It's probably a good idea to treat the whole tank rather than isolating your goldy, how big is the tank?

The tank is 125 gallons it has one other indo dat, a silver arowana, a 7-8 inch azul pbass, numerous polys and a few other odd balls.

Treating the whole tank would be costly, can you transfer the dat to a smaller hospital tank?

Yes I can I have one up and running at the moment but I would rather be safe than sorry and treat everyone. Thankfully I work at an LFS so I get a good discount on supplies for my tanks. Thanks again for all your help, I'll let you know how he is doing in a week.

I'd have some prazipro on standby as well, especially if you are treating the whole tank, 1 tsp/20gals so that wouldnt be to hard on the ol' wallet.

not that they are related at all, but my bullhead was acting similar, he'd take food, try to swallow it then just spit it out. I suspected some type of parasite or infection so I dosed him with prazipro and bam within 2 days he was eating whole shrimp and tilapia slices again.
good luck, i know its annoying not being able to fix a fish as quickly as you would like sometimes.

Yeah, prazi is my other go-to for parasite treatment.

Ya I'm a believer, Im doing preventive treatment on all my tanks with it now lol.

copper is hell on live plants isn't it? I've wanted to have some on standby but my tanks are all planted to a degree. I suppose though killing some java fern or anubia is better than a prize fish lol.

Does copper kill anubias? I thought anubias was nearly indestructible lol

Not sure about the effects of copper on live plants as I have yet to step into that realm of the hobby.I can't blame you for being concerned though as some set ups that I have seen are really impressive.
