Arapaima Pond Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry for the long time to update.. Been very busy at work.
Mr. T is doing great, healthy, friendly and great to look at every single time.
No problems whatsoever with the pond and algae is now easy to control by just filling up filter areas with water hyacinth if a bloom comes up.
Still amazed at how the pond is holding up after almost 2.5 years..

How big is he now? You're really lucky. I want to have a pond one day hopefully I can.

Checked a bit on him and measured as well, anywhere between 170-180cm. Say 6 Foot.

Also checked on the left-side filter, there's a leak somewhere there and the right-side filter started channeling water again so I'm going to change those.

Left side first, lots of steel frames came in last week,
Filter going to be torn down and then same width, about 150cm, but about 5-6 meters long.
Instead of under-gravel like I have now, I will pump from the settling tank into large filter-bags, planning to use pillow-cases. This will filter most of the small rubbish out.
From there, I will put a few cubic meter of foam between plastic fences and the water is forced through there before it ends up in the pond again.
Instead of plants I have now, most likely only water hyacinth floaters.

That would overall give me much easier maintenance and a hell of a lot of filter area

Awesome, keep us updated. I'm following this thread closely lol. Hope the new filter plans workout well good luck

Thanks for following.
Those filters have been bugging me some time. Problem is keeping them clean.
Too bad about the plants, like them, but will find some other solution for it.
The aim for me is to have simply more and easier to maintain filter volume.
Will soon start updating on this..
Cheers,
Luc
