Love hate feelings for jack dempsey

They're out all the time begging for food.
Decor has a lot to do with temperament. Mine was a community fish before I gave her "property" to defend. Now she seldom leaves it unless a fish gets too close.
Yeah that is true. I removed the cave my dempsey's like to hide in. Hopefully this will make them want to come out more often. I am really trying so hard not to give up on them!

Oh they get too big for my tank. Are there any fish with similar colors to the jack dempsey that won't get bigger then about 8 inches? ????

Ever consider sunfish? Alot of the species have nice coloration and could work

Right now the only way id think you could get some is by ordering online or buy some from somebody breeding them
