That's amazing Dan. Where I grew up we locked the front door if we were in the back of the house. As a matter of fact the doors were locked most of the time and you would never leave your keys in the car unattended. Sounds like you grew up in Mayberry.....lol I wish I could say the same. I grew up in a house about 10ft from the house next door and you better be good at parallel parking or you would be driving around the block all night long.

I bet smart cars are hot sellers in your area.

I grew up in a small town in Oregon and we never locked our doors, not even if we were gone on vacation for a week. When my parents sold the house to some Californians in 1989 they were kind of pissed when my parents told them that we didn't actually have a key for the front door.

My dad also never took the keys out of his truck. Only once in thirty-plus years of this did his truck get stolen. Some drunk drove it home from the bar - his wife called the next day and apologized.

We live in the country these days and I do lock my doors when I'm gone most of the time. My son is only five (I'm another old dad at 42) so I have a while to decide. H can't really go anywhere on his own (other than the woods out back) until he is driving as we live seven miles from town, so I imagine his first house key will be when he gets the keys to a car.

Pacific NW ftw! See I was actually in a good size city but all the same applies. I even lived next door to an Asian family that ran a chop shop. Still weren't worried about home doors.

I've got a lot of friends here that moved from Cali. I lol when they freak out cuz they forgot to lock the car door while running errands. Your car is safe in broad day light unless you leave valuables visible.......and your lock/alarm ain't stopping an autotheft that scouted it out and wants it.

Lol @chop shop next door...I guess you wouldn't have much to worry about depending on what they were chopping in their shop.Seriously though it sounds great to live in your area as long as newcomers don't bring with them any undesirable ways and begin to change things.

Very interesting,so what happened to them....did they move away, were they busted?

Moved to a bigger house by the time I was in high school. Couple miles away but still in the same school. I kinda stopped talking to them once they moved away. there were two brothers near my age and an older brother who ran "the business". The dad was a manager at McDonald's. They had major cash though

"The business"....there are auto theft rings on the rise here where they take certain cars, place them in cargo containers and ship them to Africa.I guess there aren't too many dealerships in certain areas lol.

Ps, imma lock my door now for an undetermined amount of time. your address is easily available online with just your name. I don't trust those who prey on people online. Bad move on my part braggin on it online but good luck getting in now

Yeah but unless someone knows more about you you are just Eddie. Its not like Facebook stupidity where some folks post what they are doing every waking moment of their lives and people who know them also know what they have and when they are not at home.
