i know, and theres a close to 2ft one local and cheap to me and the op!-) op wants a fish to take the occassional mouse and has the perfect tank waiting... if i had an empty tank i would give him a chance, least you aint gotta wait to grow him out!

But then you miss the pleasure of getting to know your fish and caring for it. But i see what you mean.

yeah there is that but he has the 6ft dd tank empty, i wouldnt want a single baby fish in it for too long, most species meantioned other than a micro will take an age to grow to a decent size. i grew a micro from 4 to 14 inch in 4/5 months!

i know lots will disagree but i would seriously consider a micropeltes btw, ive been thinking most will end up in some snotty teenagers 4ft tank, at least you will keep it clean and well fed mate, there are some for sale on aq for delivery too atm, 5-8cm for 11.95! (25 quid delivery tho)

i would be seriously tempted to get it but... although the tank is empty and waiting the fish/reptile room has barely been started so i would be better off getting something to grow out. i would love to have a micro but i don't want to end up with a fish that can barley turn around and i can't rehome. i might be able to get a bigger tank eventually but it depends how life and money goes lol i am going to look on ac for them now :)

i can't find them mate, do you have a link?

I would go wolf fish bad ass fish and eat just about anything including rats but they are on the ugly side can never go wrong with some piranhas but if you don't like those and want a somewhat of a good looking fish a gar is your best bet.

Micro are the coolest big pred ive kept by a stretch, very aggressive and bold as you like. Get some strong velcro strips for the lid and fill all the gaps pal... good luck you will love it.

wolf fish are cool but not really colourful enough for my likeing and no pirhannas just don't do it for me, as cool as they are i just find them a bit ugly and i prefer the wet pet type set up more. what type of gar? i had an alligator gar a year or 2 ago and as cool as it looked it was basically a floating log that i had to feed lol
