hyena can and do actively stalk and hunting alone. in this video, once the lone hunter latched on a prey, then the group joins in to kill and eat the prey alive

Aren't hyenas the elite hunters on the safari anyways?

Bull no question. It takes at least a trio take take down a water buffalo. 1 had zero chance.

Best in the safari? Hippo and crocs no question

a safari is an exhibition, journey or tour by guides for hunting, investigation or exploring. lol

I think you guys meant "plains," "deserts" or "regions" of africa

lions will take on buffalo by themselves

cheetah do hunt zebras, kudus, wildebeests and other herbivores much bigger than them

hyenas are not only scavengers but actively hunt alone, in pairs or in groups

African wild dogs are not hyenas, LOL. African wild dogs and hyenas are enemies.

hyenas are more cat than they are dog, contrary to popular belief

But not as often as they hunt smaller easier meals. Yes they do but the percentage of kills made is significantly lower than percentage of kills made to gazelles.

Lions make roughly 40-50% of attempted kills while hyenas are around 80%. Lions are actually just as likely to scavenge a meal as hyenas. However if they can scavenge a meal sometimes they will get a two for one and kill a hyena too.

All I know is...I'm still pissed they got rid of the African wild dog exhibit at Pittsburgh zoo and PPG aquarium...

Full grown male elephant should actually be the "king of the jungle"

Lol you saw that same video I saw? I can't remember if I saw it at the zoo or on TV but you quoted almost the same exact number I did. It was a video showing the best hunters in Africa. Good stuff. I'm pretty confident it referred to hyenas but even if it really meant Africa wild dogs, the point was lions pack hunt more often then people realize and these pack of dogs are actually the elite hunters of the area because of their success rate and sophisticated coordination.

Comparing lion hunting techniques to painted dog hunting is like comparing apples and oranges. Two completely different techniques are used. It's like comparing track throwers to marathon runners. The two most similar techniques are used by hyenas and painted dogs.
